There’s a buzz sweeping through New Zealand’s Virtual Assistant community.
It’s the sound of connection, celebration, and recognition.
On Saturday 20 September, more than 100 Virtual Assistants gathered at The Atrium in Hamilton for the fifth annual New Zealand Virtual Assistant Awards.
The atmosphere? Electric.
The purpose? To honour the outstanding talent driving this fast-growing industry.
What began months ago with award applications came to life in a night filled with hugs, laughter, and cheers.
Finalists were applauded, winners celebrated, new friendships sparked, and existing connections reinforced.
Guests enjoyed great food, a photo booth, a human slot machine, and even a tarot card reader. The energy in the room was infectious.
The evening built to its highlight, with the announcement of the 2025 Virtual Assistant of the Year: Marianne Wullings of Mickie Digital. A well-deserved recognition for her impact and excellence.
Entertainingly and energetically MC’d by Miraka Davies, the NZ VA Awards, was made possible thanks to a stellar line-up of sponsors and dedicated judges, whose loyalty and support reflect the strength of the Virtual Assistant industry across Aotearoa.
Founded by Sam Browne and Jo Jensen, the Virtual Assistant Network of New Zealand (VANNZ) has been the heart of the VA community for the past seven years.
Through training, events, a podcast, and mentoring, Sam and Jo created a space where Virtual Assistants - many working solo from home - could connect and thrive.
This year’s awards night marked a new chapter.
As Sam and Jo step into building their new SEEA community (along with Jason Tiller), they have passed the keys of the VANNZ and The VA Foundry to Toyah-Maree Langeveld and Marianne Wullings, who are ready to grow the VA movement in fresh, dynamic ways.
The 2025 VA Awards didn’t just celebrate individual achievements. They spotlighted an industry that’s flourishing, connected, and full of momentum.
New Zealand’s Virtual Assistants are here to stay, and they’re shaping the future of business support.
It really is a vibe.
