Case Study

Oakhill Carpentry

As a hugely talented builder, Phillip Smith from Oakhill Carpentry knew he needed a great-looking website to showcase the work he does.

He had been planning to find a website designer for almost a year and, as often is the case, work and life stuff took over and Phill's website was pushed further down his to-do list.

A number of years ago Warrick met me (Marion) via a business networking group, and after discovering Phill needed help, Warrick referred him to My Virtual Assistant.

Due to Covid-19 and with things a little 'quieter than usual', Phill jumped at the chance to finally concentrate on getting everything together for his new website.

Expectations

Phill insists on a high standard of excellence for his own clients and wanted a website to reflect this.

A gallery of images under various categories representing examples of his work was important to Phill.  He wanted prospective clients to be able to visualise what they could expect from him.

He also needed help with expressing to potential clients who he is, what he does, and the services he can provide, along with demonstrating his experience, passion, and drive.

Getting started

Phill sent a large variety of project images through, which was a fantastic starting point for the development and creation of his new website.

Large, eye-catching images work well on Phill's website and his standard of work is a visual highlight on every page.

My Virtual Assistant worked on website copy throughout the site, being sure to focus on Phill's target audience and talking directly to his dream client.

Keeping sentences short and upbeat, and making good use of headings and sub-headings to enable website visitors to quickly find what they were looking for.

Hitting the nail on the head

A customised website, based around Oakhill Carpentry's brand colours.

Good use of colour, strong imagery, easy to read paragraphs with relevant headings and sub-headings, are features of this website.

To create and generate interest, the imagery was also utilised as clickable links to other website pages.

The use of fun and 'quirky' text invokes a sense of humour, lightens the mood and gives the impression to potential customers that they will be dealing with a 'real' person.

Examples of this are: 'Let us nail your next project', 'Building the good stuff' and 'Taking things to a whole new level', which refers to home extensions.

My Virtual Assistant also advised Phill to contact past clients to obtain written Testimonials.  Testimonials are a perfect way to support and promote his outstanding workmanship.

A message from Phill

"Before getting my website built, I spent almost a year trying to figure out what I wanted to advertise and what I wanted to say to make my customers understand we could help with anything they needed.

Once My Virtual Assistant got involved the process was much easier than I expected.

My website was built quickly and changes were easy to make if needed.

Very pleased with the end result."
